The new 2010 publication ‘Berkswell & Balsall Common - Charting the Changes’ was launched at the 5th AGM with a surprising amount of sales and to very good reviews. The publication is available from Amazon and all good book shops plus collection from the local Berkswell Stores. In addition, it can be obtained from publications@berkswell-history.org for an all inclusive price of £19.95 or, considerably cheaper if personally collected. Please note this is a 32 page book 420mm x 297mm (A3) format

All of the hard work of members cataloging the contents of the CEMEX Archive room is now coming to fruition with the progressive publication of detailed listings on this web site. The list are in ‘pdf’ format and that has a built in fast search facility to allow members to pick out items of specific interest. All enquiries for further information should be sent to .... The B&DHG made a large contribution to the 150th celebrations of the arrival of the Crimean cannon into Berkswell. The History Group presented a 20 minute Power Point presentation on the history surrounding this event. The press report can be viewed here.

Caroline Spelman MP official opened the ‘Cemex’ Archive Centre at the Berkswell Museum and a photo of the event is located here

The ‘change of use’ to the garden store at the Berkswell Museum and conversion of these buildings into an ‘archive storage room’ is now all complete. The keys to the room are now held by both the Museum and History Group. Find out more about this facility by attending our next meeting.

Berkswell & District History Group have announced their intentions to launch a new publication ‘Berkswell & District, Visited & Revisited’ at the Annual Event in November A mail order facility and local sales points will be made available for anyone not able to purchase on the launch evening.

Balsall Library Computers now have full access to the web site of Ancestry.com which along with full Census records from 1841 to 1901 also allows searches against ;- UK & Ireland Parish and Probate Records - England & Wales, BMD Index - Pallot Marriage Index - Irish Immigrants: New York Port Arrival
Please make sure that you try and support the Local Library by using this facility.

The Berkswell & District History Group (and many others) were present at the Berkswell Windmill when the BBC visited the site with a view to incorporating the Berkswell Windmill in the next BBC series entitled ‘Restoration’

The History Group recently voted at the A.G.M. to change its identity to greater encompass the surrounding District of Berkswell and will now be known as ‘Berkswell & District History Group’. In addition, the new Web Site is to be launched as ‘www.Berkswell-History.com’
